Muslim TV host divides Danes

It is amazing to me how worked up people get over the hijab, much more so than the women who actually wear it. Just look at this condescending remark made by a Danish feminist w/ regards to a Muslim talk show host who recently began wearing hijab on air:

“The choice of Asmaa Abdol-Hamid is an insult to both Danish and Muslim women,” Vibeke Manniche, head of the Women for Freedom association, said. “She sends the signal that an honourable woman cannot go out unless her head is covered,” she added.

So without making any effort to understand why Ms. Abdol-Hamid chooses to wear hijab, this lady declares her choice as an "insult" to Muslim women. Sadly, many Westerners make this hasty judgement. As if Muslim women can't think for themselves. So, what was that about women's freedom again??
